In the newest version of OYO, your students will have a "real" opportunity to live on their own in any of twelve communities from coast-to-coast. They'll learn what it's like to live on a budget and practice the financial skills needed to be independent and make real-life decisions.

The new version of On Your Own Coast-to-Coast expands daily decision making to let your students experience even more of what life is like in the real world. They’ll practice the skills they need to be independant, such as:

The Wheel of Life
Students must spin the Wheel of Life each day and live with the result! Will they have an ordinary day or will they have to deal with one of life’s little hassles, make an important financial or social decision or even face a major emergency?

Updated Job Search
We've created a brand new Job Search option that is even more realistic. Your students will also have more education options prior to entering the job market.

New Salaries, Prices and Products
To keep up with the changing economy, we’ve made updates throughout the simulation so that your students are making financial decisions that are realistic and up-to-date.

Section 1: Getting Started

On Your Own Coast-to-Coast includes four options for you or your students to determine their income level and in which of the 12 communities they will live during simulation. Select from Job Search, Random, Income Game or User Choice.

Section 2: Moving In

Once students have determined their income, it's time to get settled in the community in which they'll be living. They'll need to create a budget, open bank accounts, choose transportation, rent an apartment and start utilities.

Section 3: Day-to-Day Living

Students will now face the real-life challenges of living day-to-day for a simulated three-month period. They'll pay bills, make everyday spending decisions, deal with life's little hassles and handle emergencies big and small.
